Weʼre raising £500 to help fund a replacement bike

What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.

The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.

On October 4th at 1.37am my bike was stolen by two people whilst I was sleeping, after they broke into my flat building. Though I have worked out their identities and the police are set to pursue an arrest in the coming days, it is seeming unlikely my bike will ever be returned to me. It has probably been sold on.

We will take the people responsible to court, and try to claim back the money however I am in desperate need of the bike as it is the way I get to Uni. I have a genetic nerve disorder which causes me a lot of pain and walking can be very difficult for me when it is long distances. :( The bike was also helping me with personal physiotherapy in strengthening my legs, something that is vital so I can remain strong. I also have autism and have been left afraid in my own home, thinking these people may come back to get me, now I have solved the crime myself and found them.

In my home town I am well known for raising money for others. Whether it be through sponsored skydiving, headshaves, tattoos, or even sleeping rough on the streets to help the homeless, I have raised over £3000 for various causes over the past year alone. I have also dedicated lots of my time to writing a support guide for young people in caring roles. Helping others is my life, but it is times like this that it becomes so challenging to keep that goodness in my heart. Of course I will never stop helping people, but it is just so heartbreaking to lose out like this :(

Besides needing my bike due to my disabilities, it is also just my property :( it is so unfair someone would break in and steal that from me when I haven't done anything to harm anyone ever :( If they knew who I was or what I did for others they likely would not even be sorry!

In light of the situation I have set up this go fund me to try to cover the cost of a new bike. The stolen bike was on finance with £150 left to pay :( and along with my bike they have stolen the lock, and the bag that I had brought for the back. It has left me totally devastated. We took every measure we thought we would need to keep it safe. It was locked indoors through a key-fobbed door but they broke in through the door and unbolted the bike racks from the floor.

If we do manage to recover the bike or raise more than we need for a replacement, I will be donating the money straight to charity. I have chosen AddAction as the charity the money will be donated to. It is a charity which supports and aims to help drug and alcohol addicts to get clean. We were informed the people who stole my bike are drug dependent and therefore as naive as I sound, I would like to donate it to a charity that supports them and others like them. There is of course 2 sides to every story, and I do not know the upbringing or lives they have had to lead them to substance abuse. I would also love to think that a donation could help prevent theft of other peoples items as it has left me so shaken :(
