Winifred had her first stroke in April 2018 and was successfully rehabilitated on Wisley ward . She had been home less than two weeks when she had an extension of her first stroke after attending a service at St.John’s church,Merrow. People from the church and the attending paramedics were all fantastic .My first experience of travelling at high speed with sirens going! So Winifred had her second trip to Frimley Park hospital, a tertiary centre for strokes. Yet again she had a brain scan within an hour of arriving in A & E. She was transferred back to Wisley ward the next day. She progressed well with rehabilitation and plans were starting to be put in place for her to come to Trinity Gate flat. I had moved from Hillier House as the new flat was wheelchair friendly and generally more suitable. Sadly in July she had a second stroke in her brain stem which has left her requiring 24 hour nursing care and is now settled in Springfield Manor nursing home. Wisley is a rehabilitation ward so people are on there for longer periods, Winifred was there for six months. As a family we are most indebted to Wisley ward and want to raise funds to help staff support relatives.
