Billy-Bob the Beagle came into Our lives just over 3 years ago, it was love at first sight (which isn’t unusual for Me when it comes to animals! 😊), and it was clear that Our Billy felt the same. I was looking for a much-needed trusty companion for My 83-year-old Dad who clearly was starting to feel lonely having lost My Mum a few years previous. Billy was being advertised on a re-homing site, all it took was one glance at those beautiful big Beagle eyes and I was smitten.... instantly Dad and Billy ‘hit it off’ and became firm friends, great companions ‘partners in crime’ 😊

Billy has always suffered with ear problems on and off, apparently quite common in Dogs with floppy ears (due to the air not getting to them as it should), however always resolved by a good clean and a trip to the Vets, However the last few months it was clear that the problem was increasing and getting to a point where it was beginning to be a big worry, and also a lump had developed in his ear so off to the Vets again..

The lump was removed and then the results which was devastating to say the least…

The lump turned out to be a soft tissue Sarcoma, The Vet said that he had managed to get it and remove it all, pheww but more bad news was to come… Billy had developed narrowing of the ear canal ways, to a point of no return, surgery will be the only long-term solution to his ever increasing ear infections and to relieve the uncomfortableness that im sure the poor little boy must be feeling ☹… The procedure is called a ‘Total Ear Canal Ablation’ (TECA) in which its exactly that they remove both ear canals. Now this sounds very severe I agree, however after much research its apparently quite a common procedure albeit a specialised one.

So moving onto why I need your help, because Billy has had the issue over a few years on and off (shown by the Vets history which they have to declare to the insurance company) The insurance company will not cover any of it.

The Surgery is well over £4000 and as you can imagine like most people we live on a day to day basis and what with Our Dad being a Pensioner it’s doubly hard.

Normally having to ask for help in this manner well, it just wouldn’t normally happen but because it’s Our little boy I would do anything to get that money, so a bit of begging does not faze me now…
