    Story

In less than a week, July 3 - July 8, four (4) men were stabbed to death in Birmingham!

    Alexander Leonard (aged 22) - July 3
    Philip Rolph (aged 65) - July 7
    Daniel Baird (aged 26) - July 8
    Troy Paul (aged 23) - July 8

When I attended Paul Troy's vigil on Friday, July 14, it really "hit" me that our community is desperately in need of prayer. The families also need our support. Knife crimes in Birmingham are at an all-time high and the trend has become an epidemic. In fact, as this fund-raising page is being established, my attention is being brought to another man who has just been seriously injured by a knife-attack outside Moor Street station! Enough is enough.

When an unpleasant trend of this nature starts, we can either talk about it and do nothing or we can stand together and do something. The aim of the Birmingham Prayer & Benefit Concert is to pray for the city and support the bereaved families.

The primary objective of this fundraising effort is to raise the monies needed to organise the concert. With a decent sum of about £1,700 we can have a befitting concert in memory of these four gentlemen, give the event the promotion it deserves and come together in prayer, seeking the face of God for our city Birmingham.

We are submitting proposals to KPMG, EY, PwC and Deloitte Touche to have one of them lend their support by serving as our "Accountability Partner". Transparency and integrity is very important. We want to ensure that each and every penny raised at the concert goes DIRECTLY to the four bereaved families.

Breakdown of how we intend to utilise the funds raised for organising the concert:

    Venue hire (including deposit): £322
    Printing of leaflets: £130
    Audio Equipment hire: £700
    Musical Instrument hire: £250
    Photography & Video: £300

Concert Details: Sat. Aug 5, 7:00pm - 8:30pm at Sparkbrook Community Centre, Grantham Rd, Birmingham B11 1LU.

There is strength in numbers and you can play a key role by donating towards this cause. God bless you.
