Story

As an on call fire crew we protect and help the community that we live and work in.
We know Tallulah and her family well and can see first hand how her illness could hold her back but She's always such a smiley young lady.
The story below is written by Tallulah's mother in Tallulah's words if she were able to say them.

"My name is Tallulah I am 7 years old and I go to the willoughby school in Bourne and I have Prader Willi syndrome. This is a rare genetic disorder where part of the chromosome 15 is missing.
I was born 9 weeks premature and my mum had no idea I was poorly. When I was born I had a very low muscle tone meaning I was unable to breath, suck or swallow, I was fed through a feeding tube and helped with breathing by a ventilator. I spent 13 weeks in nicu on oxygen and at 13 weeks old I still wasn’t able to drink my milk from a bottle, I was still fed through a feeding tube in my nose. The syndrome I have is very complex and I see a lot of doctors and I have a lot of blood taken. I have physio daily to help with my muscle tone as exercise is difficult for me, I tire very easily as I have such low muscle and if I walk too far I have a lot of pain in my joints, this makes me upset because I can’t explain the pain or how I feel. I never ask for anything for Christmas as I have never really understood what it meant, but this year I have asked Santa for a bike.
I can’t just have a regular bike I have to have a customised trike as I’m unable to balance and pedal.
If I am fortunate enough to have a trike I could then join my family and friends on bike rides and trips out.
This would help build up my muscles and also give me vital exercise as I gain weight very easily.
My mum gives me a daily injection to help me grow but to have regular exercise would be a great benefit and also give me my own independence."

We are going to carry out various different events throughout the local community to contribute to the total, but desperately need everyone's help.
