    UPDATE 07.10.21:

    Dear Friends of Boxhill Park,

Thank you for contributing to the Information Board in Boxhill Park. The Board is now almost finished and ready to put up in the coming weeks.

Waitrose have kindly agreed to contribute to the cost of the board. If you know anyone who wants to contribute, but hasn't quite got round to it, please do remind them. Carbon Cutters still need about £100 to cover the cost completely and will close the JustGiving page in the next couple of days.

Carbon Cutters hope that you are looking forward to seeing the early bulbs under the trees bloom next spring, watch for the trees to bear their blossom, and if not next year, in future years, enjoy the apples, pears and plums, together with all the attendant wildlife.

Thank you for your support - without you, projects like these couldn't take place.

See you soon, possibly in Boxhill Park!

Could you help Abingdon Carbon Cutters fundraise enough to put up an information sign at the Community Orchard in Boxhill Park?

The board will explain how fruit trees are important to insects and mammals as well as useful to humans. ACC wants to include information about endangered insects, but also how to tell when the fruit is ripe, and ideas of what to make with it. The trees and their fruit is for the local community to use and enjoy for years to come!

ACC are inviting local children to build solitary bee nest boxes to encourage pollination (and therefore fruiting!) of the trees in the future. The more children know and understand the world around them, the more they will respect it.

Information signs need to be carefully designed and built to weatherproof standards. We need at least £1250 for the sign - every contribution will help.

In autumn 2020, ACC supported Abingdon Town Council to plant the 20 fruit trees in Boxhill Park. These were underplanted with spring bulbs to provide pollen and nectar to bees as they come out of hibernation. An information board would be a way of encouraging more people to respect the local area and become involved with the Community Orchard project (we hope!).
