Story

We took Bramble to the vets today and we were both in agreement & felt she had deteriorated over night.

Her eyes were no longer shining and her tail wasn’t still wagging

Our conclusion was that the deterioration meant it wasn’t FCE or Vestibular we think she had a brain inury/secondary stroke from another issue. Today was the day I knew she was no longer with us in spirit.

This was the sign I needed. She would not recover.

Bea is my dog of a lifetime and nothing will ever replace the huge space she has in my heart 💕

Thank you for all you have given me I can never pay you back little lady

The donations for her and scan auctions will be going to the English Springer Spaniel charity, I hope we can make something positive from this and help lots of other spaniels that need us 🙌🏻 Please use the link in my bio 👊🏻 If you want to donate even just a bit to help lots of other pogo sticks find new homes please do! Rehoming spaniels is the best thing I’ve ever done and maybe one day I’ll do it again!

Thank you for everyone that sent love and healing I know she felt loved and will always have a place in my heart

Bramble is/was a really happy healthy 9 year old working spaniel, she came to me for I guess for a “semi retirement” after a very active lifetstyle.

As Bramble is now getting on and has had issues with her mammory (she had a double strip and she has been spade and made a full recovery from stage 4 masses)

She is now our family pet and we adore her, we have done a season picking up together and she has taught me so much.

Everyone that has had the pleasure of meeting Bramble will tell you she is an incredibly special loyal friend and we are inseperable & in addition to that she is an incredibly experienced gun dog.

Bramble Update 🙌🏻 I decided to get a second opinion on Bramble this morning

The vet was amazing and agreed she seems to be in no pain whatsoever it’s just like she’s “drunk” if any of you have ever had vertigo you know how that feels

We have a diagnosis of sorts so here goes...Vestibular Disease “The vestibular system is responsible for maintaining normal balance.

The vestibular system has central components located in the brain, and peripheral components located in the inner and middle ear. "Vestibular disease refers to a sudden, non-progressive disturbance” It is more common in older dogs. It is also referred to as old dog vestibular syndrome and canine idiopathic vestibular syndrome.

Most dogs present with the sudden onset of loss of balance, disorientation, head tilt, and irregular jerking eye movements called 'nystagmus'. Many dogs will become reluctant to stand or walk. Most dogs will lean or fall in the direction of their head tilt.” Her prognosis? -she has an inner ear problem and it will resolve, -she has had a stroke and she will deteriorate -she has had a stroke and she will recover and be fine -she has a brain tumour and it’s made her have a seizure.

So I have decided to see if she improves over the next couple of days.

If she drastically improves wonderful then great if she deteriorates I will make an informed decision. She is currently is good spirits with bright eyes and eating. She isn’t incontinent and is totally aware of what’s going on.

An MRI will tell me what’s happened HOWEVER if she continues to deteriorate I will not pursuing this route. I can just wait and see.

Now for the hard part, if I lose Bramble over the next day or so or have to make a decision on her quality of life the donations I have received if I reach the target will go directly to

www.englishspringerrescue.co.uk along with the money i raise from auctioning off the pheasant

Thank you to those that have been so kind over the last few days 🙌🏻

I want her to have an MRI so i can make an informed & very difficult decision as to whether she is able to make a full recovery or I have to put her to sleep either way i simply just want is best for her.

This is the cost the vet has given if it any less & we make the target I will donate it a dog charity

This is a devastating blow to our family because is so special to us and I have no idea how to explain this to my 8 year old son.

Ultimately we need to know the extent of the damage so if she isnt going to recover I can make the decision as soon as possible.

Again im so sorry to ask for the help

Thank you for reading this far
