Not everyone gets access to a free education or can afford to go to school but £,1000 can enable Daniel to access an education every year.

Meet Daniel

Daniel is nearly five and has special needs. He has a diagnosis of Down Syndrome and Severe Learning Difficulties. Daniel communicates through hand guidance, and tries to vocalise some words.

Daniel has never accessed any form of education and spends his time in a shop where his mother works. I met Daniel on my travels in December and I was inspired by his story. He is a very energetic, happy, and playful child with so much potential yet limited opportunities. Daniel's family is too poor to afford to send him to a special school.

I did some research and I found a special school called Dawn's Children Centre. http://www.sctuganda.org/about-dawn/

I contacted the Centre and they accepted to conduct an assessment of Daniel's needs. I paid for the assessment and on completion, it was identified that Daniel has limited communication skills, limited concentration and attention, limited fine motor skills, and depends on others for all his personal care needs.

Dawns Children Centre can support Daniel to develop in all aspects of his life and enable him to live a more fulfilled life. They provide occupational Therapists, and Speech and Language Therapists etc.

Daniel's mother thought he was bewitched and possessed and slowly we are teaching her that this is not the case. With time, she will learn and also be able to have a number of strategies to support Daniel.

It will only cost approximately £1,000 per year for Daniel to have what other children have and that is a decent future.

It's very unfortunate that I cannot support Daniel alone but I believe that there are many of you who want to make a difference to this little boy's life and witness the progress he makes as he gets older.
