Story
Kufa was our inspirational tennis coach and international tennis official who was based at Memorial Park Coventry. When he tragically died of cancer, I decided that we should do something in his memory. We contacted his old school in Zimbabwe and offered to go out there and provide some tennis coaching for the pupils. The headmaster said that "this would be a fantastic idea, the only problem being that we haven't got any tennis courts". We then began the task of raising funds to build a tennis court. News of our plans spread and led to the Zimbabwe army offering to build the tennis court if we provided the materials. The project started with teaching staff and parents digging out the foundations. The whole rural community has got involved in moving the project forward. We still need £2995 to pay for the remaining materials and equipment.
The purpose of building the tennis court is to provide the opportunity for the children to learn to play tennis and perhaps follow in Kufa's footsteps in either becoming a tennis coach or in representing his country as a tennis official at international tournaments all over the world
. We hope to inspire the children to realise that as Kufa would say " there are no limits to what you can achieve".
Any contributions no matter how small will be gratefully received.
