We are working with a local school where the children need support 'bridging the gap' between a structured reading scheme and free reading. It has been observed that once they complete the current scheme they are then choosing the wrong books i.e- books that are too challenging for them.
We plan to introduce a scheme that provides a selection of genres that the children will enjoy whilst also improving their reading skills.
To do this we plan to buy the school new books that are currently trending for the younger generations. We also would like to provide an outside book area so that the children have the opportunity to read during playtime and lunchtime.
Celebrating children's success is vital and therefore we plan to build a small bridge which can be used in assemblies once a child has completed our 'bridge plus' scheme.

To raise the money we have a lot of ideas planned such as a 'readathon' with the children in the school, cake sales and also we will be walking from Bognor Regis pier to Brighton pier (a 9 hour walk!)
