    Story

My dad (Adam Teale) is currently in Trinidad. The past few weeks have been one thing after another.. to start with he had Dengue virus, the doctors then went on to find a Brain Aneurism which was treated before it was too late and now last night we received the news that he has Infective Endocarditis (Endocarditis is a rare and potentially fatal infection of the inner lining of the heart (the endocardium). It's most commonly caused by bacteria entering the blood and travelling to the heart NHS ). We need to bring him home to get this treatment, he is not covered by his insurance over in Trinidad and his last operation for his brain totalled more than 20K so we are now at breaking point and have no spare money left. We have been quoted over 90k for the air ambulance to transport him back here to Manchester and we understand this is a lot. All i ask is if you can spare a little even if its just £1 we will be one step closer to getting my dad home. Please help bring my dad home.

    About my dad:

Adam joined the British Army in 1986 when he was 16.5 years old. He joined the Royal Signals and did his Basic and Trade Training in Catterick where he trained to be an Electrician Driver. During his 13.5 years in the Army he did tours of duty in Herford, Germany, York (2 tours), Bosnia, and St Tonis, Krefeld. He left the Army in December 1999. Adam then continued his career outside the army to become a marine engineer. He later went on to support his wife Dawn in her career ambitions to join the police and become a police officer. Most recently along side his job he has supported Dawn and his family in being foster parents and helping young children across Manchester.

    UPDATE 14th of November

Hello Everyone... I would like to just give you all a update on my Dad (Adam Teale)

Today the Doctors in Trinidad carried out another Echocardiogram to see how well the past two weeks of antibiotic treatment have gone. The idea was that hopefully the Vegetation (bacteria) would have reduced in size by 15-20%. BUT after todays discoveries it was found that the damage to my dad's heart irreversible. He has a small hole on his Mitral Valve and his Aortic Valve is now leaking which means he is going to need both of these valves replacing - this has been caused due to the infective endocarditis.

THIS is why we now need your continued support now more than ever. As he is going to need to have this heart surgery and we need him to get back to the UK. Companies have approached us willing to help and I believe (I will confirm ASAP that if we can get to around the 20K mark i can get him on a flight back to the UK including the medical team and transfers to the hospital etc). Any extra money made over this target to get him on a flight home will subsequently go towards the payment of medical treatment that is owed to the Hospital in Trinidad. This change in Target means we are 55% of the way to meeting it.

    Thank-you

    Lauren

(Endocarditis background Information:Endocarditis is an infection of the endocardium, which is the inner lining of your heart chambers and heart valves. Endocarditis generally occurs when bacteria, fungi or other germs from another part of your body spread through your bloodstream and attach to damaged areas in your heart.)
