Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered nonprofit.
The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
Buckland Soup Kitchen has been up and running since 2010. It was started to help give people that may be homeless for whatever reason a warm meal and somewhere to see a friendly face.
The Soup kitchen is based in the Church hall of Buckland United Reformed Church in Kingston Road, Portsmouth. Buckland Soup Kitchen is part of a Food Share Scheme, and it feeds about 50+ people every Wednesday evening from 6.30pm and is run completely by Volunteers who want to help the local community.
Buckland Soup Kitchen costs approximately £35.00 per week to run. The Church allow us to use the church hall and kitchen free of charge. The food is donated to Buckland Soup Kitchen for free from an organisation called “Fareshare” but there is a delivery charge of £25.00 per week (this is to cover Fareshares costs and expenses). Some weeks a large amount of food can be delivered to the Kitchen and other weeks there is a very small amount, but the Soup Kitchen still promises to serve a hot meal to those who attend.
The Soup kitchen’s costs are not only the food, but the additional costs are also tea bags, coffee, sugar, milk, cutlery, cups, plates, bowls, table clothes, napkins, sandwich bags, cleaning products and takeaway containers for those that are unable or wish not to enter the building we will give them a meal to take away with disposable cutlery.
There is also the wear and tear costs of pots and pans and kitchen utensils that often need replacing, and we are currently desperate to purchase a new cooker.
All donations are gratefully received, and will contribute to the ongoing costs, and replacing our current cooker.
