    Story

Money raised will assist us to deliver holistic care for patients diagnosed with cancer in Lesotho.

Lesotho is a State located in the southern region of Africa ,recently there is a growing threat of life limiting illnesses to Basotho nation including cancer. Currently there is no hospice provision in the country and patients requiring palliative and hospice services suffer in silence together with their loved ones.

Can you imagine not being able to enjoy living due to agonizing and crippling cancer pain ? Did you know 55-65% of individuals experience cancer pain and majority of people diagnosed with cancer suffer depression and loss of sense of purpose. The reason why i believe so strongly in palliative and hospice care is that not only it addresses the physical problems but also improves emotional, social ,spiritual and financial resilience.

Lack of quality palliative and hospice care can lead to :

1.Premature death due to excessive suffering due to pain and other symptoms.

2.Family's economy goes down as the debilitating pain prevents patients to continue working for their dependents and in some cases buy homely remedies which are expensive but yielding little effect as they still continue to suffer symptoms.

3.Patients and their loved ones' hope becomes shaken as they feel they walk the cancer journey alone.

With your help we hope to reach out to cancer patients by delivering palliative care services, manage their pain and other symptoms, give them emotional, psychological and spiritual support to them and their families.

World Cancer Day held on 04th Feb 2019 with the theme 'I AM AND I WILL' is an empowering call to us as individuals and collectively too. Our personal and collective efforts are welcome in order to make a difference to our fellow human beings.

Therefore , we appeal to you to support this palliative and hospice movement with the purpose to improve the quality of life for these patients and their families. We hope you will find it in your hearts and budget to support this initiative of building a homely environment where we can support cancer patients welcome each day with HOPE and expectation for tomorrow.

We are committed at putting our utmost efforts to establish an appropriate balance between providing the clinical care while maintaining the 'domestic' nature of the hospice ,by ensuring a calm ,safe and comfortable atmosphere to patients and families.

As Nelson Mandela said 'Our human compassion binds us the one to the other-not in pity or patronizingly, but as human beings who have learnt how to turn our common suffering into hope for the future'.

    Thanking you in advance.

    Together we shall overcome.
