Story
In the light of recent events we at Burton Park Wanderers football club have decided to raise money to support all of our members and visitors and purchase a mobile defibrillator for our club.
Please give generously, we hope that we never have to use this piece of equipment but it's the piece of mind that comes with it in knowing that the much needed treatment can be given if it should occur.
Sudden Cardiac Arrest is a condition of which no one is immune from.
From children to adults, to fitness fanatics and couch potatoes; everyone and anyone is susceptible to cardiac arrest with over 30,000 occurring in the UK each year alone with little to no prior symptoms before a collapse.
The only definitive treatment against SCA is the life-saving shock from a defibrillator. Pairing this along with effective CPR can help to increase a victim’s chance of survival from 6% to 74% if delivered within the first 3-5 minutes of collapse.
Slowly but surely, we’re seeing more and more access to life-saving defibrillators available in public locations, meaning quicker treatment can be provided to a casualty and survival chances, but still, there are many workplaces, schools, and community environments still without this essential piece of equipment.
