Story
Team Ghana
When I first heard about Team Ghana I immediately wanted to take the initiative and be one of the team members that went out there to help the children in Kumasi and Obuasi. What really inspired me about this project is that I was born in a little town called Mombasa in Kenya. Now, I only lived there for about 6 years but every time I went back my family and I would always help the less fortunate by spending the whole day giving food and resources to families who needed them more than we did. This made me cherish the little things in life because of the smiles on their faces when they were given just a bag of rice for their family.
Going to Ghana next year will give me the opportunity to help more children in schools as we will be funding them and helping them with improving their toilets and giving them boreholes for fresh water.
The way I am going to fundraise the money needed to go to Ghana I will be partaking in a sponsored skydive, hosting charity dinners that will bring families and friends closer together, and having bake sales because well, who doesn’t love cake? Moreover, to really get the word out there about team Ghana I will be making Team Ghana badges and selling them to people at my workplace and giving them to family and friends so that they can inform other people about Team Ghana too. Fundraising will give me the accomplishment for doing something that will benefit not only me but will help the boys and girls in Ghana who need fresh water and clean toilets for their schools in Kumasi and Obuasi.
Some people don’t really understand the importance of giving back to the people who live in poverty. One of my main goals when fundraising for this is to make more people understand the true significance of helping people that don’t have the privileges that we have. The most vital target for me to achieve is to raise £1500 for the Team Ghana trip and to go there and make it very fulfilling for the children in Kumasi and Obuasi.
