My nursing degree allows me to undertake an elective placement anywhere in the world. I have decided to spend four weeks in Ghana from 14th January 2017 - 14th February 2017.

Work: Medical Outreach.

"The Medical project in Ghana works within rural Ghanaian communities. This project aims to help smaller Ghanaian communities which are deprived of access to basic healthcare and medicine."

"Volunteers on the Medical Project in Ghana are placed in small rural clinics where they work closely with the local staff. Some Medical volunteers also have the opportunity to be placed within our Childcare project, where they visit the various children's homes we work with, providing medical care and guidance to those in need."

This is a huge challenge for me, i am travelling to Ghana alone, but will be working with a team of other medical volunteers.

My elective placement is all self funded. However i am not looking to raise money to pay for any of this trip.

I am looking to raise as much money as possible which will provide medical supplies to the rural communities i will be working with.

I will be working Monday to Friday each week. On the weekends, we are able to go on excursions to sight seeing attractions, or we can spend our time off helping in any of the local orphanages. I would like to use some of the money i raise to be able to pay for any supplies that the orphanage requires, and be able to buy toys and games for the children.
