I am trying to raise enough funds to buy my friend Louise (Lou) a Motorised Mobility scooter with power elevating seat.

I met Lou at secondary school and we went to air cadets together. We have remained friends from school for over 28 years. Lou was an active healthy teenager until the age of 15 when she was walking into town with another friend and suddenly dropped to the floor unable to move her legs. This resulted in her admittance to hospital and her start to a long road of health problems and becoming C6 Tetraplegic (Paralysed from the chest down) Lou has very recently found out the reason why this happened she has a very rare condition called Spinal Arteriovenous Malformation (AVM)

Anyone who knows Lou knows that she is a very private and proud person who has never taken more than she feels she deserves, and in my opinion deserves so much more than she receives! Lou has always had a manual wheelchair, she said this has always made her feel less disabled and has never wanted a motorised chair. Lou only has half a diaphragm which over the last few years has made her breathing more difficult and she tires easily. After some recent tests Lou has been told she now needs to move into a motorised scooter, much to her dismay.

It would be great if we could raise enough to buy her a scooter that allows her seat to move up and down. These are not cheap between £3500 - £4000. Any help no matter how small will make a difference.

Here is what I plan on doing.......

I am going to take on the Coast 2 Coast on the 27th May 2017 with my husband Wayne and Dad Gavin. We are going to make this more of a challenge by aiming to complete this within 12 days rather than the 16 days recommended. It is 200 miles over 3 national parks starting at St Bees and finishing at Robin Hoods bay. We are totally self funding this trip so every penny raised will rightly go to Lou.
