Story
Our family has been devastated by a tragic house-fire taking the lives of my great-aunt Linda Carbonell (74 years) and her son Banjo (51 years) who were unable to escape their home in Manila, Philippines on April 9th 2018 . Not only did it take away our loved ones, it completely obliterated the family home and business leaving my uncle and his two children homeless and without a livelihood. It has been reported in national news here.
The retrieval of the bodies and cremation of the remains has already cost the family 60,000 pesos (roughly £1000). Damage to the building including the family business is estimated at 500,000 pesos (almost £7000). These costs are considerable for most Filipino families where average monthly income is just 22,000 pesos.
Our extended family across the world are tirelessly working to raise the necessary funds. Now, we're kindly asking for your donations to support our family through this difficult time. Anything that you can spare will help ensure that my great-aunt and uncle receive a respectable burial and to support the immediate family rebuild their home and livelihood.

6 years agoIt's now been over two months since this tragic incident and thanks to your kind donations, the house is becoming re-inhabitable again. Including donations made offline, almost £3,500 has been raised - a life-changing amount of money. Funds have been spent on rewiring the property, ensuring it fully meets regulations. The roofing has also been altered and timber reinforcements added. Rebuilding the house will take time, but without your generosity, would have taken even longer. Our family will be eternally grateful for your love and support!
