Edward 'Ted' Beckett, my dad, and grandad to Emily and Adam, was a member of Carnforth Bowling club for over 11 years. He played bowls for over 23 years. He died in May this year.
People perceive bowlers as being 'old and frumpy' but they're wrong; Ted was flying a microlite at 78 years of age!
In July, Provincial Hotels and Inns bought the pub that owns the Bowling Club, renaming it 'Taps on the Green' and have gifted the bowling club to its members.
Carnforth Bowling club desperately needs a new pavilion. Together with club members, family and friends, I am fundraising to build a new secure and watertight club house that will serve its members and visitors for years to come.
