A year ago I lived in Fiji for 6 months teaching 8 - 10 year olds (year 5) how to read. Before coming to Fiji all I knew was the white sand beaches and massive tourism, however people there lack so many things we take for granted. Within 2 days of me being in Fiji a hurricane shook the country, destroying many schools, homes and villages. Although massive rebuilding has occurred, there is still a need for many things.

People whom I met there were overwhelmingly kind and welcoming, so I decided before I came home that I wanted to raise money for local schools and projects, to benefit directly people who I worked with and became close to.

I want to raise money now for the Children of Fiji charity to provide equipment for the Fiji School for the Blind (including an embosser to print out braille), as well as to help with building improvements for Marist Convent School where I worked. I would also like to contribute to Lattitude Fiji's project to offer young Fijians new opportunities through placements overseas.
