Most people will never have to go through even one of the traumas that Cassie Cava has had to.

Born with club foot, Cassie endured countless operations as a child and in 2014 had to have one of her legs amuptated below the knee. She worked incredibly hard to learn to walk again, and as soon as she could she got on the slopes. Sport was a focus Cassie had to do the things that were so difficult before the amputation.

Cassie was selected for Team GB in both para snowboarding and triathlon.
While training, Cassie opened up about a serious sexual assault that had taken place in 2013 before her amputation. Whilst in Europe, a group of men raped Cassie as she walked home one evening. She told her teams and her family and friends that she was suffering with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). While the triathlon team were incredibly supportive, British Parasnowsport were far from it. It has been widely reported that Cassie has made formal accusations of bullying and discrimination against British Parasnowsport and there is now an investigation ongoing into the behaviour of those at British Parasnowsport.

Meanwhile, Cassie has been left with nothing. Everyday she suffers horrendous flashbacks of the attack that have driven her to several suicide attempts. Currently, Cassie is in hospital fighting with everything she's got. But after all of this, she hasn't got a lot left.

Uk Sport will no longer fund Cassie, and so she has lost the insurance that was her lifeline. The NHS has had its mental health services cut to such an extent that they cannot provide the help she needs.

Her only chance is for us to raise funds for private care.

Please help me to raise the funds needed to provide Cassie with the inpatient care she so desperately needs and deserves.

Hello #teamcassie! I'm so happy to write this post! Tomorrow, Cassie races for Team Ireland in Estonia. She is back training and competing and using sport to heal. Cassie has asked me to send you all the hugest of thanks! Through your generosity, Cassie has been able to get good support around her and move forward with therapy, helping to get stable and start processing the trauma. This is a healing journey, but Cassie has the strength, the bravery and the tenacity to go forwards and fight on. All my thanks, Caragh 💚

Hello #teamcassie ! Cassie is now out of hospital and so we are looking at the available options for therapy. Of course, the more we can raise the broader our options are to getting the right support in place to continue Cassie's recovery and enable her to look forwards. Thank you all for your kind and generous donations so far, I know that seeing everyone pull together to support her has given Cassie hope. Please keep sharing the link and telling everyone who'll listen about how amazing Cassie is! Let's do this! Caragh x
