Unfortunately many medical treatments and procedures are not always covered by health services or insurance schemes. In this situation paying for the essential treatment you or your loved one needs can be prohibitively expensive.
Crowdfunding has been used by many facing this situation, helping to raise money for pioneering treatments, surgeries and recovery.
Completing a bucket list
Aimee Willett was diagnosed with terminal cancer after a routine smear test, so David Fairbank decided to raise the money she needed to complete her bucket list.
1-2-1 Counselling Services provide free crisis counselling for clients who can’t afford it. The room they used is no longer available so David raised money to help them pay rent.
Paying for treatment
Zoe raised £1,485 to help fund her friend Laura Loftus’ cancer treatment when she was diagnosed with cervical cancer.
