Government funding for sports programs have seen massive cuts, leaving many teams and individuals without the money they need to pay for facilities, equipment or travel expenses.
Faced with this, sports teams have successfully crowdfunded to raise the money they need to compete.
New kit for Frome Girl's Football Team
Alison raised over £300 to replace the Frome U15 Girl’s Football Team worn out team kit. The girls previously had to borrow spare kit from other teams - now they have new shirts, shorts and socks.
Free outdoor games area
Mrs AC Herrmann raised £777 and transformed two unused tennis courts into a floodlit multi-use games area with free outdoor gym equipment, table tennis, tennis and street snooker.
The London to Sochi Ski Runners
£2,665 was raised to get Charlotte Evans and Kelly Gallagher to the Sochi Paralympics 2014, where they earned Great Britain their first ever gold medal at the Winter Paralympics.
