In May 2017 at the age of 34, our wonderful sister in law Amanda was tragically diagnosed with Stage 3B Cervical Cancer. As you can imagine came as a huge shock and was truly devastating news for her, and all of her family and friends. Amanda took the brave fight to cancer immediately and has since faced months of gruelling chemotherapy, radiotherapy and brachytherapy, tackling these courses of treatment with inspirational courage and strength.

Throughout Amanda has maintained such a positive frame of mind and has fought the disease with such determination from day 1. We are both in complete awe of her and how she has battled through this truly difficult time. Following her initial course of treatment it was found Amanda had responded extremely well, and in December 2017 following an MRI scan, she was informed by her doctors that she had achieved a “complete response” and that her tumour in her cervix had completely gone. Agonisingly however the scan also revealed a lymph node which required further investigation from her medical team.

On the 4th January 2018 all of our worlds were turned upside down, when following this further investigation which involved a PET scan, it was revealed Amanda’s cancer had spread to her pelvis and lungs. Her cancer was now deemed terminal under the NHS, with palliative care being the only option. Amanda, and her husband Luke are now doing all they can in determining alternative treatments available to Amanda, one being a promising treatment called Immunotherapy which uses the power of the body’s immune system to treat the cancer. This is an expensive treatment however, hence the need for fund raising to help in Amanda’s fight against this terrible disease. Such funds can also help in Amanda creating special memories with Luke, and their two wonderful daughters, Molly and Maisy - memories that can be treasured forever.

Will and I want to do whatever we can to raise as much money as possible to help with potential treatment costs Amanda is going to face, and to also help them create some precious lasting memories as a family. So on Saturday 3rd March we will both be taking part in a Skydive and throwing ourselves out of a plane at 12,000 feet. If you can help in any way, big or small, we would both be eternally grateful and know how much this will mean to them all.
