Story
Cath's story, where do I start? I'm going to start by being honest; fund raising has become a social media norm and I'm the first to admit I've scrolled past my fair few without giving them a second thought. We see it that much we almost become desensitized to it. I know I'm guilty of it and I'm sure many of you are. I'ts like anything in life until it happens to you, you never truly understand.
Cath is a woman who has faced more trials and overcome more obstacles than most people face in a life time but somehow after all life has thrown at her, she still has a smile and a love for life that will never change. Even now, she's been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer and everyday she fights it and defies the odds. She's a stronger woman than most. We go to cheer her up but with one smile she touches something deep inside your soul and brings pure joy to your heart. Today we went to spend some time with her in the hospice and true to Cath's nature she still had a smile on her face! I asked her :
"Cath, is there anything we can do? Is there anything that you want?"
Her reply "I want to move on my own, I want to be able to just go and sit in the park, go for a walk, I just want to move"
It broke our hearts, If we could of piggy backed her around the countryside then we would of done it. Of all the thing she could of wanted and all she wants is to do the things we all take for granted, the things we do everyday like walking in the park, strolling along the canal, watching a sunset. I know that if i'm stressed out and i've had a bad day, I go for a walk, watch the sun as it sets, take a deep breath and clear my mind - Cath can't do that any more. Can you imagine how that feels? Being dependent on somebody else? It's not just about mobility, it's about independence, freedom all the things we take for granted. Let's be honest, you never think it will happen to you until it does.
With a mobility scooter Cath will be able to do these things and enjoy the simple things and the beauty in the world that we sometimes don't take the time to see. With your help we can raise the money to get Cath a scooter and give her back some independence and before we know it she'll be whizzing around the streets on a mobility scooter with 'L' plates and a helmet kicking cancers arse!!

6 years agoWe would like to say a massive thank you to all who contributed to making Cath's last wishes come true. We did get the scooter, sadly she was never able to use it. Even though she never got a chance to use the scooter it gave her so much joy planning the adventures she wanted to take on it. She really was one of a kind! The scooter will be donated to a local elderly care home. We did plan on using the money raised to take Cath on one last adventure to see Morcombe. Now it will be given to Cath's family as it's what she would of wanted.

6 years agoEverything happened so fast yesterday we didn't get a chance to say a massive heart felt thank you to each and everyone of you that not only donated but also took the time to send your love and well wishes. Cath will be over the moon with all the love and support from our Max family. All the given donations will go towards doing something special for Cath. I'm not sure what yet but when we decide we'll tell you all know what it is xx
