Story
“Monthly Matters"
Many homeless people are placed in desperate situations.
If you're a woman living on the streets there is an additional problem every month. Imagine your period coming and you have no pads or tampons.
Having your period is more than just a hassle — it's a matter of comfort, cleanliness, and dignity.
And money. If you are homeless and hungry do you buy pads or food?
Imagine sneaking into McDonalds to get enough toilet paper to stop your leaking to make sure your trousers are not stained. Or using newspapers found on the street to soak up instead of pads.
Do you go to work, school, shopping with stained underwear? Are you able to wash or cleaning yourself if you leak?
Is it OK if you are on the streets to walk around bleeding and not able to have what women in the UK should take for granted?
There are 50,000 women living on the streets nationwide, and with limited access to pads and tampons, and no steady, comfortable place to shower, they are forced to get creative with ways to keep clean when they have their periods.
Some are forced to steal products. Others wait for homeless outreach crews to come by with pads. Some use socks, paper towels, plastic bags, toilet paper, towels, cotton balls, or clothing in place of hygiene.
Let's do something together. However small a donation it will help someone next month.

A very good cause. There's much more to homelessness than people first think.
