Story
Our company Downbelow Marine & Wildlife Adventures has already exclusively funded and built a cat rescue and rehabilitation centre here in Sabah, Borneo where we live. We built it in response to a plea for assistance by the SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) a non-government organisation, approved under the register of societies Malaysia.
We currently have 76 cats living at the centre and we are paying for the up-keep by providing one full time staff member, cat litter, food and veterinary care for the animals.
Our objective is to fundraise via this page and the local community to help with the general up-keep, future extension, staffing, adoption & education program for the successful longevity of this project.
We - Richard & Joanne, are the Directors of Downbelow Adventures. Currently we are using our company funds for this project but we need support. We will personally ensure that all donations are spent wisely on the items we need.
Other generous benefactors in Sabah have donated money to the SPCA to construct dog kennels and the staff accommodation building. But there is still much work to be done. The SPCA rely entirely on donations and this big move is challenging them financially.
Every penny of your donation will be spent on this worthwhile cause. We will post images and news frequently so you can see where your donation is being spent.
£10,000.00 will pay for the cat quarantine centre (the next building on the wish-list)
£4,300.00 will pay the salary for a member of staff for one year.
£2,650.00 will pay our entire cat litter bill for one year.
£55.00 will pay for a vet to visit and provide basic medication for a two cats with flu.
£7.00 will pay for kitten food for one week for a orphaned kitten
Please help us. We can not change the world - but we can change someones world !
Together we can make a difference !

7 years agoHuge thanks for all the support ! Thanks to Uncle Barry & Aunty Traci for contributing towards Tobias. He is one of my recent rescues. He was dumped at the bottom of our road. Hungry, tired and full of flu together with both eyes heavily infected. I neutered him, vaccinated him and we treated his sickness. Now he is fighting fit and ready for adoption. He loves the shelter - its a true sanctuary for him to be fed and cared for. At the same time we rescued two more cats. More on them in a later post ! Thanks for everyones support. :)

7 years agoAll our hard work is really paying off. The ringworm, mange & flu is all under control. During the past 10 days we have managed to find new homes for 16 cats through the SPCA & Harvest pet store adoption drive. We managed to have 35 cats healthy, groomed and ready for new homes. Its a great achievement. This means we can take new cats into the shelter and the medication bills start all over again. Please help us get the cats healthy and stay healthy so we can re-home them :) Below Trio & Tiger who are still waiting for a new home.

7 years agoSo much has been happening at SPCA & with our own rescue efforts. Five cats were adopted last weekend. This weekend its SPCA's adoption drive showcasing 25 beautiful cats looking for their 2ndChance home. Joanne saved a cat from being dumped (Pebbles Below) - tested her for infectious diseases, vaccinated and neutered her, she is now with a foster carer until we remove the stitches, then she will go to the shelter. Today we vaccinated one of the cats on Manukan island. We found 4 more cats that we need to trap, neuter & release ... busy busy !
