On Friday 16th February my mum and I will be joining the Stodden Parish Sleep Out to raise money for one of the major, local homeless charities, The King's Arms Project. We will be giving up our beds for one night to sleep outside, around the porches of our local churches in Bedfordshire, raising funds through sponsorship.

This charity, who do so much good to help the homeless in Bedford, are hoping to purchase the Nightshelter building, with a loan from the Harpur Trust. However, The King's Arms Project still need to raise a deposit of £80,000 in order to do this. The Nightshelter provides sanctuary for over 250 men and women each year as they make the transition from living on the streets back to a normal life and independent accommodation.

Homelessness is a serious issue that spreads far and wide and is something I feel very strongly about. It's so important that we take the time to appreciate all commodities and luxuries we are blessed with, but perhaps take for granted, and think of those less fortunate than us. By supporting such a worthy project, we can make a real difference to the lives of many people.
