Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.
The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
In July, myself and 23 other Bishop Luffa Sixth Form students are embarking on a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Tanzania. We will be travelling 4480 miles in order to work with the charity Grassroots which aims to help local communites by running feeding programmes, education programmes and relieving some of the pressures of children caring for their younger siblings. Grassroots aims to relieve poverty, whether that be through providing chickens, matresses or goats to families in order to improve their standard of living. Being part of their project, we will be involved in improving the quality of life in the community. This is both an exciting and daunting adventure that surely will enhance my understanding of global diversity and unity. It is an incredible opportunity.
We will be based in Mbeya near the border with Zambia where, as reported on the Grassroots website, the area is poor. After 10 days of working in the community we will return home.
Throughout this year, I am doing a number of fundraising events including cake sales, raffles and various sporting events, in order to raise funds. However, perhaps my biggest challenge will be the Bognor 10k on Sunday 19th May. Having previously never run further than 5k, the endurance training well and truly starts now.
I would be so grateful for any donations, no matter how big or small. This is such an exciting opportunity and I appreciate you taking the time to read this.
