    Story

Every child deserves a great education, however world wide there is a teacher shortage of approximately 69 million teachers world wide.
This doesn't include the fact that many teachers are inadequately trained and in parts of Africa such as Uganda, many of the teachers have had no formal training what's so ever before starting their profession. These teachers are given a text book, a classroom and maybe 60 children and they haven't been taught any teaching strategies to help the children learn. This leads to low-quality teaching, low literacy and high pupil drop-out rates.

I plan to travel to Uganda to share up to date Teacher training to empower Ugandan teachers to deliver quality first teaching.
Disabled or impaired children benefit the least from this style of teaching and my go through school without learning and therefore, being a specialist in traching disabled children and children with learning difficulties, I am looking forward to being able to use my skills and knowledge to help improve the education od many children and actually change lives! I expect to come back a more experienced and skilled Teacher to benefit the children I teach back here in Sheffield.

The LRTT (limited resource teacher training charity) programme approaches the challenge of poor-quality education and growing shortage of teachers by connecting qualified teachers to develop their own teaching practice to inspire and empower communities of teachers around the world.

Now here is the next bit... I had children at a relatively young age (22) and studied part time for 7+ years, I didn't believe I would be able to do anything like this. In order to go to Uganda I will be taking my boys with me Rafi 6 and Reuben 4. I'm sure that they will benefit no end from the experience, therefore we will need to fundraise a total of £4380 (not including flights or vaccinations!)
Please give generously - or all that you can as every child deserves a great Teacher.

I hope you get enough to go. The students over there would be lucky to have such a dedicated and fab teacher. Best of luck xx

I am a relatively young mum (I had children at 22) and unlike many people I know have been unable to travel or volunteer internationally. I have volunteered locally. I have studied with determinstion while working and raising 2 beautiful children. Now I want to give back...
