On 3rd August 2016, Kelli was diagnosed with stage 2B cervical cancer. She was advised not to worry, and she would be fine.
Kelli endured 6 weeks of aggressive chemotherapy, 47 sessions of radiotherapy and took countless medications to try relieve her pain. After treatment, she waited 3 months for her results, only to be told her cancer had spread. It was then in her lymphnodes in her back and neck. She was diagnosed with stage 4 terminal cancer and offered palliative care.
Kelli's physical health deteriorated quickly, within a matter of weeks she became unable to walk, needed a wheelchair, and eventually bedridden. Her husband had to give up work to become her full time carer.
After a long discussion with her family, Kelli decided she was going to fight this! She had too much to live for to let this beat her. Her amazingly devoted husband, beautiful son and daughter, and her new baby grandson she had to see grow up!
Kelli began taking alternative herbal medications. After just a few days of taking these, Kelli was able to get out of bed, and became strong enough to get around without her wheelchair!
On 17th March 2017, Kelli began taking 3 more chemotherapy medicines, in hope to extended her life expectancy from 12-18 month, and spend some more much needed time with her family and friends. When she returned to the hospital for a check up, Kelli received some amazing news! The cancers in her back and cervix had reduced in size, and the one in her neck had completely disappeared! Things had finally started to look very positive, even her cancer specialist was taken aback.
Although this result is outstanding, and Kelli, her family and friends are positive she will beat this, but the herbal medications are coming in at a huge financial cost. Roughly between £350 - £400 per week!
