3 years ago as a family we went to a remote village in India to live and work with the underprivileged people. The different things we did on the ground include education. We run a primary school for the local village kids that feeds into not just the village but the satellite villages and local tribes. We organise regular health check up clinics for the kids. Run a project called 'HOPE' where we reach out to vulnerable and street kids not only in the village but in the nearby city. We have built good relationships with the local people and work alongside an orphanage and women's refuge and an NGO that works with the runaway kids. The school was built over 38 years ago. To the work that needs doing includes rewiring, patch up of plaster where needed, making roof secure as it leaks when it rains. The kids lack good stable furniture to sit on and all the blackboards need replacing. Relaying of the floor where it has become dangerous for the kids .So far we have set up a whole new clean drinking water system for the kids. And repaired the boys toilets. We desperately need to redo the girls toilet to make sure they have access to a clean toilet. The whole building needs repainting and freshening up along with the upgrading of the playground. All the funds raised from this page will go for the upkeep and maintenance of the school so that the kids can have the best chance at reshaping their future. The work we intend to do would start from 1st June as it's currently summer holidays in India and we would like the work to be complete before the kids arrive at the end of June when the new academic year starts.
