Year Out India is a grass roots volunteer run organisation working with tribal communities and disadvantaged people in Keraia, south India. They are committed to improving sanitation and housing conditions. Year Out India has built 70 toilets to date, including facilities for the nursery, local clinician the Mannan tribal settlement. However there is a estimated need for 150 additional toilets in this region.

I want to volunteer with Year Out India as I believe the skills and insight I gain will be invaluable and hopefully improve my outlook for the better. I also believe that no matter where you live you should have equal opportunities and health and sanitation is critical basic need. As someone who has been privileged enough to have many opportunities including free health care and education I would like to help those who are more disadvantaged then myself.

As a volunteer I will have the chance to work closely with the local community helping to improve their living standards. This will be a 'hands on experience', the team of volunteers will be managing their own development project, working closely with families involved and assisting with the build works.

The money I raise will go directly towards: building materials, travel, visa, paying local workers and craftsmen in the village and will help in a massive way.
