Hi! I'm so excited to have been given the opportunity to go on a once in a lifetime four week trip to Kenya, to complete life-changing voluntary work, conservation projects and a three day, two night trek around the foothills of Mount Kasigau.
Whilst we will be going to Tsavo National Park to hopefully see the 'Big 5', and experiencing the amazing culture of Kenya, the most important part of our trip will be the impact we hope to have on the communities we will be visiting. Some of the projects we will be starting and completing include building desks and chairs for children who would otherwise sit on the floor to get their education, and also build schools to provide them with a safe environment in which to learn. We will be doing conservation work such as making elephant proof fences that will protect the locals' crops and ensure that the elephants are not hurt as a result of this. We are very lucky to have the education and basic human rights that keep us safe and healthy in this country, but that unfortunately is not the case in much of Kenya. Interacting with the local communities, I hope to have at least a small influence on someone else's life and give them hope for a better future.
Some of the current projects for raising these funds include a 26 mile walk, mufti days, movie nights as well as cake sales and stalls at summer/Christmas fayres, but I would be extremely thankful for any sponsorship that will help me travel to an amazing country to do something amazing.
