Weʼve raised £1,107 to enable the trip of a lifetime for 7 year old cancer sufferer Brooklyn Hutchinson

Funded on Friday, 28th April 2017

Don't have time to donate right now?

    Story

7 year old Brooklyn Hutchinson was diagnosed with a Wilms’ Tumour in her right kidney in August 2015. The following month, she underwent chemotherapy which caused her to temporarily lose the use of her legs and arms and also had her right kidney removed. That October, Brooklyn was given the all clear and by February 2016, she was well enough to go back to school. However last August, her family were given the devastating news that a routine scan had found a second Wilms’ Tumour in her right lung. Brooklyn had to undergo more doses of chemotherapy and on Thursday, January 12, 2017, she had half her lung removed. Further tumours have since been found in her chest area and she continues to undergo chemotherapy though she is a fighter and our fingers are crossed that she will make a full recovery.

A fund raising campaign has been set up directly for Brooklyn organised by her family and friends as a direct way to donate to her. The money raised will be used towards the holiday of a lifetime once she gets better.

My contribution towards fundraising efforts is to attempt to raise the sum of £1,000 in sponsorship for running the London Marathon on 23rd April 2017.

This will be particularly challenging as I have never run the London Marathon and only put my running shoes back on in February!

Dig deep and thank you all for your contributions

A massive thank you to all that have donated and help reach the target. For those that weren't following, I completed the marathon in 4:46. A bit slower than I'd hoped for though my Garmin packed in the night before so timing was all over the place. That, stitch at mile 14 and my dodgy knee that needed strapping at mile 20. Anyway, all done now and thanks again for all your support to a worthwhile cause

All ready for the race. Have rested this week apart from a short run, also avoided alcohol and eating well, so feeling confident! The partners at work have very generally sponsored me a further £500, so I have now hit my initial target! Amazing! Just 3 days and 26.2 miles to go :-)
