50 former Light Infantrymen are committed to each raising £1,000! All the money raised will be going to veterans' associations. 50 men, formerly of the Light Infantry, will march 50 miles this summer on the anniversary of the raising of the Regiment.

Many former soldiers who have given so much to their country have fallen on hard times - often in part because of the experiences they have been through. They do not always get the support that we would wish for through the MoD and Charitable Regimental Associations such as our Regimental Association can offer much to assist.

To give some purpose to my own sponsorship I am running in a number of road races - leading up to a full trail marathon in Yorkshire in Aug. More usefully for all of my training I will be plogging - carrying a rubbish bag and scouring our area for litter - by way of doing something useful for the community! The first race has just been completed - a 1/2 marathon in Wrexham in early March.

(Plogging - is a new pastime taking off in Sweden that sees people going for a jog, and at the same time picking up litter. You pick and you jog – hence the term ‘plog.’)
