A recently published document has quoted, ‘Learning outside the classroom is linked to improved attainment’. With this in mind, we would like enhance our outdoor provision; currently we have a small area outside both Year 1 classrooms to support the children’s learning. At present, this area is underutilised mainly due to poor weather conditions, which causes many of our resources to become waterlogged and rotten. We feel that a canopy would be the answer to this issue, as it would provide:

Protection against the elements for resources and children,

Regular outdoor experiences that are memorable and stick in the mind whatever the weather.

A choice during child initiated sessions of outdoor activities.

Opportunities to further extend the learning.
