This lady has been a friend of mine most of my life. She is struggling to live with many disabilities and is wheelchair bound. I felt very saddened recently to hear that she is now feeling socially isolated due to the difficulties she is having with her chair now. I have asked her permission to set this up in the hope that a new more accesible chair could be purchased and enable her to live a normal life. She has written this for me......

Oh my I cant thank you enough for offering to do this go fund me for me. I am so touched. I'm 42 and use a powerchair on a daily basis to be able to remain as independent as possible. My only carer is my 76 year old Mum so it is important that I remain as independent as possible so that I can also return some care to her. We joke that between us we can do most things in the house, except ligtbulbs - lightbulbs have us beat.My symptoms on a daily basis include are tremors, twitches, muscle spasms, lose of speech, seizures, incontinance, spasticity in my ankles preventing me from being able to wear shoes or put feet on ground flat. lose of grip in hands. severe pain from nerves being crushed in base of my spine, forgetfulness, confusion, high blood sugars, extreme fatigue, sickness, cannot lift my arms above shoulder height. high blood pressure. Loosing feeing in feet and below the knees. I get very tearful and depressed. I use special cups and cutlery to help keep my food and drink to myself! I need to carry what I can only describe as an adult changing bag everywhere. The powerchair I have at the moment is ok but cannot cope with hills and typically I live at the top of a hill. To get out my town I have to do 2 large hills. My powerchair has been a lifeline to me and means I can get out and about, do household errands, and shopping . If I had a more suitable powerchair I would be able to go further and it would cope with the 'not very' dropped kerbs where I live. I would be able to go to the next town which has wheelchair accessible shops and restaurants (with accessible toilets). At the moment a social trip out is a trip to a local café for coffee and then home within the hour or so for the loo/change. None of our independent cafes have accessible loos so toileting is often an issue. If I was able to get to nearby towns I would be able to shop, eat and wee all in one trip. Since leaving work last year due to disability I have become more and more socially isolated. When I was at work I spent nearly 20 years working for the same company. Since leaving no-one from my team has kept in touch, and I feel forgotten and worthless. My 'friends' are always too busy to go out with me these days as they have their own families and commitments. When they do make arrangements to do something I am often let down at the last minute - which makes me feel like a burdon that they couldn't be bothered with. Its sad but a hospital appointment is a day out for me now. A new chair would mean so much to me and my independence but would also take a lot of pressure off of my Mum who is like superwoman and is my life. I feel so useless watching her do things that I should be doing and frustrated that I should be looking after her not the other way round.

People in this day and age should not feel like this. So please help me out to better her life.
