We are looking to raise £1000 for a great cause - Claire's House Hospice. Claire House helps care for seriously ill and terminally ill children in the local area. The work they do is amazing, and as a group of parents you can't help but be touched by the stories of the children they look after.

As an incentive to raise the money, we have been offered the chance for a full size Optimus Prime truck to come the the Christleton Fete for the afternoon on the 30th June, fitting with the Toys theme of the day. This would be an amazing attraction and should in turn help raise more money for the causes supported by the fete. - but it will only happen if we can raise £1000!

It's a win - win. There will be a range of activities done by the Dads in order to raise the money, which will be paid through me to Claire House. Please dig deep!

Chris Heath and James Chandler have kicked off proceedings with a 2 mile open water swim on Windermere as part of the Great North Swim in June - amazing effort guys, thanks.

And my own effort is... different. This year I got an injury that meant the half marathon plodding I'd planned wasn't possible, and it's an injury that isn't getting better. I'm not a distance swimmer. I last rode a bike when I didn't have a car. But I do have a capacity for mind numbing repetitiveness and a stubborn streak.... So on the 16th June, the day before Father’s day, I'll be taking on the Paradise Island Adventure Golf Course. Literally child’s play. But for 13 straight hours - from 10am to 11pm I'll be putting, with the aim of beating 540 holes - that's 30 rounds of the course, and a hole every 90 seconds for the 13 hours. The guys at the course say it's a bit mental, so that sounds about right.
