Christopher spent twenty years working in the fields of construction and conservation as a chartered building surveyor and proud member of both the RICS and P&T. Preserving architectural history while keeping buildings functional for modern purpose was his professional passion.

He also took great comfort in belonging to the modest, open minded, inter-faith community based at Chatham Unitarian Church. And it was his wish to help preserve its beautiful, historical home.

Chatham Unitarian Church has provided a place of sanctuary for those with liberal religious beliefs since the late 1600s. From its site on Hamond Hill, it has provided a home for the General Baptists and Unitarian congregations - preaching a religion of love for all, without creed or expectation of belief.

A recent electrical survey revealed a significant problem with the system, requiring complete replacement. This will cost in the region of £25,000. Additionally, minor building and stained glass repairs will cost a further £5,000.

Donations to this building fund in lieu of flowers will allow Christopher to be involved in one more building preservation project, one which has particular meaning for him personally and for his legacy as a surveyor.
