    Story

    Churchfields school pool

Hi my name is Zoe, My daughter attend a great little school in Atworth, Wiltshire.

The school has an outside swimming pool that is in desperate need of important maintenance but unfortunately this cost is unable to be covered by school funding as the money they receive from Wiltshire Council rightly has to go towards funding text books etc.....

Myself and a small group of parents have got together to try and raise funds to carry out work required to get our pool up and running. Our pool fundraising has been affected by the pandemic as has so many other causes.

The children have been unable to use the pool over the last year and sadly we have children who joined our lovely school that have never seen the pool let alone had chance to swim in it,

The money we are hoping to raise would go towards putting a new liner into the pool and updating the children's changing rooms.

We do have some money in our kitty from previous fundraising but not enough.

realistically we need to raise £10,000 to £15,000 as the pool liner is just the start! In an ideal world we could raise enough money to carry out the work to the liner and changing rooms then progress to a better filtration system and better solar panels to heat the pool.

Water confidence comes from an early age starting with bath time as a baby growing up using paddling pools or splash pads at local parks. I know swimming is not for every child but if you can get children to engage in this sport from an early age their confidence can only grow with them!!!!

Swimming is an important part of a child's education not only can it build confidence but potentially save a life if not their own possibly someone else's.

It is part of the national curriculum that every child should be able to swim 25 meters before they reach secondary school.

Could you imagine not having the opportunity to learn how to swim at a younger age and then you get older and want to go on holiday with your friends or family and you are unable to get into the pool or the sea as you are unable to swim.

Myself and other parents at school are passionate about keeping the pool open and we are looking at fundraising ideas but we still need help with funding.

We will keep this page updated as fundraising ideas take place.

    PLEASE PLEASE HELP US!!!!!!

We have added some pictures of our pool at a time when we could use it and as it is now!
