Weʼve raised £359 to Fund a Sadaya retreat for Britsh Forces veterans that suffer with mental health issues by running the Edinburgh half marathon.

    Edinburgh, UK
Funded on Saturday, 25th August 2018

    What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.

The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.

I'll be running the Edinburgh half marathon in aid of a charity - set up by my old man - called Sadaya. Having suffered with PTSD himself as a veteran the charity was founded to combat mental health issues within the veteran community. Sadaya is a Scottish registered charity that runs various projects around the country.

the money raised will fund a retreat that aids veterans of the British forces that suffer with mental health issues such as PTSD & depression. On average an ex armed forces member commits suicide every 2 weeks. One of the problems veterans face is isolation. It leads to depression and a sense of worthlessness, leading to thoughts, attempts and finally the committing of suicide.

The full and working retreat takes people from isolation, gives them a sense of giving back, self worth, and grounding. Once grounded the group can then engage in meditation with a view to settling the mind. Once this achieved then self-compassion and forgiveness can be tackled.
