I signed up to do the Moonwalk last year for my mammy Lorraine. She was diagnosed with Breast Cancer 5 years ago, got the treatment and we thought it was all gone until it reared it’s ugly head again which we found out had sadly spread to her bones.

Mum fought the good fight and didn’t let anything get in her way, even when she was going through chemo & radio therapy that didn’t stop her from doing what she wanted to do.

We joked about the fact that I had signed up to do 26.2 miles as we all know I’m very lazy, even as a toddler constantly crying for my buggy. I basically told her I was doing it for her and if she can go through something as tough as chemo then I can walk 26 miles for her.

Sadly Mum passed away on 10th April with us by her side so she won’t get to see me complete the walk but I know she will be there beside me egging me on.

She was really was the light and soul of the party, my rock and best friend. I truly couldn’t have hoped for a better Mum. Her laugh was infectious, her dazzling smile and kindness will never be forgotten. She made us all feel special in our own unique way, everyone loved my mum Lainy.

She was our Queen Bee who was taken far too soon! 💜
