    Story

On Tuesday 24th January 2017 we got devastating news our son Ryan was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. DMD is a severe and progressive muscle wasting disease. Its 100% fatal ! At this moment in time there is NO CURE. Our aim now is to raise as much money as possible to get into the hands of the worlds leading scientists who have the best chance of making a cure a reality. We all have so much love for Ryan he's our big boy and we can't imagine our lives without him.💙😘xx
DMD is the most common fatal genetic disorder to affect children around the world ( mostly boy's ) , meaning you can't produce dystrophin which is an essential protein you need to build up your muscles. As a result, every muscle in the body deteriorates gradually.
The facts about Duchenne are inescapable:
*Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy is 100% fatal.
*Most children die in their late teens or early twenties.
*Children are usually in a wheelchair by the age of 12.
*It leads to respiratory failure, heart failure, and other debilitating
    orthopaedic complications
*One in every 3,500 boys are born with DMD, in the UK alone 2,500
    children are affected.
*DMD has no boundaries no matter where you live or what your
    ethnic background is.
    * A third of all cases start in the womb, with no warning before the
    baby is born.
*Girls can also get DMD with around 1% of DMD births being female.

Please help us to try and give our little boy and others affected by Duchenne the best chance to beat this disease.
Ryan is a bright, happy, intelligent 3 year old boy. Hearing such devastating news is completely heartbreaking. You plan your child's future with hopes & dreams, then this all comes crashing down, as a parent this is the worst news possible.
We as a family will make sure Ryan grows up to fulfil his dreams & wishes to fight this terrible disease. Help us to help Ryan & others find a cure by raising as much awareness & money as possible.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to all who have supported and donated to our cause. Since we set up this fundraising page to help find a cure for Ryan we have been busy and have now set up a family fund with Muscular Dystrophy UK. Our aim is to get as much money as possible into the hands of scientists who can find the treatments and a cure that one day will help our boy and others living with Duchenne. We felt that setting up a family fund was the best way forward and would like to introduce you to our new name – Our fight for Ryan.

Our fight for Ryan is a name that sums up how we feel right now. We’ve been blown away by the support and generosity by so many of you and know that together we can beat this devastating condition. We have a new Just Giving campaign page, which we are thrilled to share with you. It means that all donations and fundraising will go directly to Muscular Dystrophy UK. We have restricted our fundraising to the Duchenne Research Breakthrough Fund which means that 100% of your donation goes to research into Ryan’s condition, Duchenne.
