I'm Claire Stancliffe, captain of the GB Deaf Womens Football squad and have competed internationally for 10 years. I am a self funded athlete and raise funds to compete in competitions.

On the 28th July 2017, I sustained a very serious knee injury at the Deaflympics 2017 whilst representing GB in the bronze medal match . I have completely torn my ACL with severe bone contusions, grade 2 tears of the MCL and LCL, a partial tear of the popliteus tendon attachment and an impaction fracture.

Due to the severity of the injury, I have been told it's a possibility I could never play football again and my best chance of recovery is to seek private treatment with a specialist in elite sport knee injuries. However to do this it will cost approximately £10,000 which I cannot afford.

I have had many requests to set up my own funding page so people can donate to hopefully help me seek private treatment. In the event of me not raising the full amount, I will use the funds received to offset other costs as part of my recovery such as private physio, a GameReady machine, hydrotherapy etc.
