We don't (of course) expect anything for Henry's birthday but please if we do want to get him anything can we ask that you make a donation towards the ever increasing cost/necessity of his footsteps Physio, specialised equipment (in theory the OT, Physio etc should provide all of this but unfortunately this just isn't the case). He's got so many toys, books etc and still has some from last year that we've not even got round to getting out for him to play with! James and I have bought him a few toys as we know exactly the kind of things he needs/likes and this is more than enough.
Even if it's just a pound you donate every penny counts as they say.
We're desperate for him to take his first steps and we know that with footsteps Physio this can be achieved a lot sooner than relying on NHS Physio. He's made huge gains each time he's been but unfortunately with the increase in travel there and back and the cost of moving its more difficult for us to afford to take him there. The first time he went he progressed from barely being able to crawl to crawling like he was in an Olympic race! And not being able to pull up even into half kneeling to pulling up to stand. He had some assymetrical movements which were hindering his development so we paid for taping (yet another cost!) and this corrected it. Something which isn't available on the NHS and would likely still be affecting his movement to this day had it not been rectified. On his second visit he wasn't cruising very much and was unable to get down from things. Now he's up and down like a yo yo, getting more confident at cruising and is even starting to climb on things! They gave him muscle massages which really helped.
I know people feel they want to buy him something to open but when you find somebody opening a packet of baby wipes the most hilarious thing ever who needs presents to open!?
The best gift you can give our amazing little boy is helping him to take those first independent steps.
