Why the Just Giving page?

As you know over the past few years we have had limited facilities for the open water swimmers at LRDOWS. We now have the chance to sort out some of these issues out with changing rooms, maybe also shower and toilets too.

We are investing a large amount of our capital and resources along with some great additional funding from London Dock Authority to improve the facilities for all of us who swim at the Docks.

But we have a great opportunity by spending just a little more to really upgrade this project and add some further facilities (including ...showers .. a loo... ) We are hoping our amazing friends who swim with us could help?

These facilities will be used and enjoyed by our community of swimmers and directly benefit everyone who uses the Docks for their Open Water Swimming.

So for just a few pounds each you can really help improve things and make your experience that little bit nicer when visiting the Docks.

We have chosen to do this via a Just Giving page as they support community projects and it is a convenient way for us all to see how the project fund raising is going.

In addition to getting some great new facilities the biggest 100 donators get entered into a draw to win free swimming for 1. a season, 2. a month and 3. a week, yes you can win free swimming for a season!

What are the plans?

We have already started refurbishing a large pontoon that will form the base of our new facilities.

Our initial plan is to buy two shipping containers and place then at either end of the pontoon, within the containers will be the changing and other facilities.

We have created an inspiration gallery on the website and will be adding images to it as the work progresses. But for now a few images of how a converted container could work.
