    Story

On 29th and 30th April 2017, I will be walking 106km (65.8 miles) around the coastal path of the Isle of Wight. The event takes place over 2 days, covering 32.3 miles on day 1 and 33.5 miles on day 2.

I will be taking part in the event to raise funds for TenFifty, a fantastic local not-for-profit community organisation that runs monthly nightclub events exclusively for people with learning disabilities and/or autism.

People with learning disabilities often have a disjointed experience of community. Many have been institutionalised or segregated through negative experiences or lack the social confidence to engage, which isolates them from everyday interactions that many of us take for granted.

TenFifty club nights support 150+ clubbers to experience the night club scene, develop new social networks and have fun within a safe environment and a team of enthusiastic volunteers ensure that people feel involved and safe. I have recently become a volunteer and have seen for myself how valued the events are by all those that attend.

TenFifty would like to train a team of people with learning disabilities to become resident DJs at the clubnights, providing further opportunities for inclusion, skill development and confidence and it is hoped that any funds I raise will go towards providing this training. The £340 target I have chosen would fund 2 1-2-1 training sessions.

Please join me in supporting this fantastic local organisation. I, and TenFifty, will be immensely grateful for any donation you are able to give, whatever the amount.

I have paid entry fees for the walking challenge and all costs of the trip myself, so all funds raised will go to TenFifty (it is also my intention to make up the % taken by JustGiving so TenFifty receive the full amount donated)

    Thank you
    Clare
