Hello,

My name is Cliff Lee.

I am an artist based in Braunton, North Devon. In August 2013, aged 39 years old I suffered a major stroke, losing the use of my right arm (the tool of my trade), the use of my right leg, and lost the ability to speak, read and write (my enabler, Caroline has written this). Since the stroke I have taught myself to create new artistic pieces with my left hand, producing increasingly detailed abstract work (see my website for examples).

I spent six weeks in the Mardon Neuro-Rehabilitation Centre in Exeter and received excellent care there, which contributed greatly to my recovery. As a way to say thank you to the Marden Centre I completed a sponsored trike ride in 2016 and raised over £4000. This was heavily featured in county wide press and radio mediums.

My recovery is ongoing, and I am now looking to raising money towards stem cell treatment, which could help significantly with my speech and mobility. This has had great results for many people, and if successful could give me an independent life.

I have decided to push myself again by completing a 2km open water swim on Dartmoor. This will be a huge challenge for me, and I am currently in training towards achieving my goal. The treatment is not cheap, as I need to travel to one of two places in the world that carry this out.
