Story
Idiopathic Pulmonery Fibrosis (IPF) is a comparatively rare disease, but is rapidly becoming more common.
There is no goverment funding for support, awareness or research into this disease which kills many people every year.
There is also a lack of public awareness about a disease which currently affects 35,000 people in the uk with another 5000 people being diagnosed every year.
Llife expectancy is just 2-5 years from diagnosis .There is currently no cure but treatment can improve life quality and expectancy. Lung transplant can drastically improve both but is not an easy outcome to achieve .
There are only 2 hospitals in the UK that have IPF specialist units. One is Castle Hill Hull and the other is Papworth Hospital.
We are going to complete The National Three Peaks Challenge to raise money for The Hull Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension and Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis Service so they can carry on doing their fantastic work to help improve the lives of those affected.
